But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. 2 When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. 3 For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee. 4 Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life. 5 Fear not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west; 6 I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth; 7 Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him. 8 Bring forth the blind people that have eyes, and the deaf that have ears. 9 Let all the nations be gathered together, and let the people be assembled: who among them can declare this, and shew us former things? let them bring forth their witnesses, that they may be justified: or let them hear, and say, It is truth. 10 Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. 11 I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour. 12 I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, that I am God. 13 Yea, before the day was I am he; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall let it? 14 Thus saith the LORD, your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; For your sake I have sent to Babylon, and have brought down all their nobles, and the Chaldeans, whose cry is in the ships. 15 I am the LORD, your Holy One, the creator of Israel, your King. 16 Thus saith the LORD, which maketh a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters; 17 Which bringeth forth the chariot and horse, the army and the power; they shall lie down together, they shall not rise: they are extinct, they are quenched as tow. 18 Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. 19 Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. 20 The beast of the field shall honour me, the dragons and the owls: because I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen. 21 This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise. 22 But thou hast not called upon me, O Jacob; but thou hast been weary of me, O Israel. 23 Thou hast not brought me the small cattle of thy burnt offerings; neither hast thou honoured me with thy sacrifices. I have not caused thee to serve with an offering, nor wearied thee with incense. 24 Thou hast bought me no sweet cane with money, neither hast thou filled me with the fat of thy sacrifices: but thou hast made me to serve with thy sins, thou hast wearied me with thine iniquities. 25 I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins. 26 Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified. 27 Thy first father hath sinned, and thy teachers have transgressed against me. 28 Therefore I have profaned the princes of the sanctuary, and have given Jacob to the curse, and Israel to reproaches.

angela h = "Referring to the last chapter, Isaiah is telling Israel that even though they must be punished for their disobedience, God is not finished with them. God makes claim on them. They are His and He is simply letting them go through a cleansing/ purifying process. The water is for cleansing. The fire is for purifying. These process will ensure that all corruption is gone and the servants of God are in their purest form. God assures them He will be with them throughout. See Deuteronomy 31:6.When we fall into sin. God extends His hand to lift us up out of it. We still must face the consequences of our sin, but God holds our hands the entire time. He is our loving Father."
Cary W = "This promise has brought great encouragement to many who are in the thick of a trial or trouble, for it is when we are at such loss, His presence can be most available."
Ben N = "The Presence of God is with us through every difficulty, seeing us through even the darkest experiences of life."
angela h = "Lord here means "Self Existent or Eternal". The Hebrew is YHWH. (Strong's Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible)  I find this  interesting. It seems as if God is saying "I don't need you, but I want you."  He goes on telling them He is their Savior and begins telling of the sacrifices He's made for them. Again that He wants them. In this lifetime we will not completely understand the sacrifices God has made for us. He wants us! All of us! (See 2 Peter 3:9) "
angela h = "It is as if God is writing a love letter here. Precious means "Jehovah  has raised up". He holds Israel in high regard. He want to save/redeem them. He loves them."
angela h = "In this verse God restates that He is with them. They should not be afraid.God tells Israel here that their "seed" (children) will return to their land. There would be a day when He would call them back home and they will come "from the ends of the earth." "
angela h = "God says those of us who are called by His name were created by Him for His own glory. How can we become part of God's family; to be called by His name?"...Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house." Acts 16:31"But as many as received Him (Jesus), to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name (Jesus)." John 1:12 (Parentheses mine) "
angela h = "Just as it is today, the people in Isaiah's day heard the warnings and saw the signs that God sent them. In fact, so much so that they began to ignore the signs and warnings. They became deaf and blind to them.Today we are told, "Jesus may come at any time". I hear this at least once every Sunday. We can look around and see the signs. See Matthew 24:3-14. But do we really believe that? Are we living this day as if we could be called up in the rapture today? If this were our last chance to witness to others, who would we visit or call? How will we justify ourselves to God? How did the Israelites justify themselves?"
angela h = "God is going to do whatever is necessary to make them believe and understand. There is only 1 God. He is self sufficient and needs none of us  to exist. "
angela h = "I Am, the Self Existent, YHWH, Jehovah, is also the savior. See John 1:1-3;14. There is no question to Jesus' deity."
angela h = "When God shows up and shows off, no one can deny His existence. When God saves us His Spirit is ever-present. We become His witnesses. He is the only God!"
angela h = "Notice the verb tenses here. "before the day was I am He"; or before there was day I Am (YHWH) or Eternal/Self Existing. See parallel verse in John 8:58"...and there is none that can deliver out of my hand:" See John 10:28-30.Then the question to which the answer is none. Who does God ask permission to do anything?"
angela h = "This verse is predictive of the overthrowing of the Babylonians by the Persians. God tells Isaiah the Babylonians will be used to punish the Israelites and then God will punish the BabyloniansAll of this is amazing considering that Israel was not invaded by the Babylonians until 32 years after Isaiah's ministry."

angela h = "God always intended to be the one and only King of Israel. Israel asked for an earthly king after Samuel's sons (judges at the time) were taking bribes and "perverting judgement." See 1 Samuel 8.Jesus is the King of Kings. He will be crowned as He comes to set up His millennial kingdom. See Revelation 19:11-21. "
Cary W = "We all have much in our past to let go of; the pains, trials, injustice, even the times of drought of Spirit.  Yet we are reminded to call them to mind no more, for God always takes pleasure in doing something new, even making a way where there was none before."

angela h = "Here we see that the beasts, dragons, and owls are partaking of the provision God has given for His chosen people. I would compare this to the Gentile nations gaining the salvation of God through Jesus because the Jews rejected Jesus as the Messiah.Note: dragon means large serpent  See dictionary.reference.com "
angela h = "This is an echo of the first verse in this chapter. God reminds the Israelites that He made them a special people for Himself. He made them to bring glory to Him. "
angela h = "He says here that the Israelites have not been worshiping God. Instead they have found it burdensome to serve the Lord. Do we not do the same? We would rather watch a ball game or race than go to church and worship. We should put God 1st and He'll take care of everything else. See Proverbs 3:5-6 and Matthew 6:33."
angela h = "God says in these two verses that His people were not sacrificing to Him. But are offering only sin unto Him. He has become burdened with this. How many times do we offer only complaints instead of  thanksgiving to God? We often worry about what we want instead of taking care of what we have. We cannot continue with this attitude (which is sin) and expect God to bless us."
Cary W = "Isaiah is here again, prophesying the coming of the Lord Jesus and the work God would perform in Him, yet speaks of it as if it has already taken place.  God is able to transcend time, and see it already here: the salvation of His people."
angela h = "It breaks God's heart when we sin.He is willing and waiting for us to confess and repent. ( See 1st John 1:9) He not only forgives but forgets (Psalm 103:12). He does this because He loves us (John 3:16; Romans 5:8) not because we in any way deserve it. (see Isaiah 64:6; Romans 3:10; Romans 3:23)"
angela h = "God is reminding them of the sin that will produce the punishment He has been describing to them. "
