Here are 7 reasons why millions of Christian theologians and ministers from various Christian traditions do not believe the God revealed in Jesus would ever allow anyone to spend eternity in hell. \\---- If one soul spends eternity in hell, Satan wins. \\---- Hell means we are more loving than God is. Jesus tells us to forgive our enemies, but God will not? Jesus tells us not to judge, but God does? Jesus tells us to love our enemies and overcome evil with love, But God does not do that? \\---- Hell is illogical. If heaven is a gift and God is love, How can a loving God withhold that gift from anyone? \\---- Hell allows the Old Testament “eye for an eye” worldview To compromise Jesus’ “unconditional love” world view. The argument that God’s justice demands hell Is a human idea that Jesus rejected. Jesus said, “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for eye, and a tooth for tooth.’ But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, That you may be children of your Father in heaven. “ \\---- Hell is what allows so many horrible things To be done in the name of religion. If God punishes His enemies, Then surely we can punish ours the same way. This is dangerous thinking. \\---- Hell contradicts the many Biblical scriptures that teach universal salvation. Here are just a few of those verses from the Bible: ”God’s anger is not permanent. Although He punishes man, He will heal, guide and restore comfort to him.” “Consequently, just as one trespass resulted in condemnation for all people, So also one righteous act resulted in justification and life for all people.” “It is not God’s will that any should perish.” “God made all people imprisoned by disobedience So that he may have mercy on them all.” “All will be made alive in Christ, but each in his own turn And ultimately Christ will subdue all his enemies, Eliminate death And God will be all in all.” “God is the Savior of all men, especially those who believe.” ”The act of obedience of one man will bring life for all men.” The Bible is not afraid to use the word “all” – Neither should we be. \\---- Hell is really about defending a particular view of the Bible. Believing in Hell is often about refusing to admit That the Bible was written by men, And that, while the Bible contains much that is valuable and true, It is not perfect. As much as I love the Bible, I realized years ago That sometimes we have to choose Between the teachings of Jesus regarding God's love And the parts of the Bible that contradict those teachings. Hell contradicts God's unconditional love. Jesus said,” The Spirit (not scripture) will guide you to all truth”.

2 Jack G = "What you're teaching is false. By saying that Hell doesn't exist is ignoring the teachings of Jesus. Even in the LOld Testament Hell is mentioned. While it's true God is loving, He's also Holy, and will by no means let the guilty go free. No, God doesn't send anyone to Hell, we do that to ourselves by rejecting God's Salvation plan, through Jesus. Please reread your Bible. God created Hell for Satan and his angels. Universalism is a false doctrine. "
3 John Alan Shope = "Jack, thank you for your response. As I said in my post, I think most debates about hell are not actually about hell, but about whether the Bible contains errors, the existence of hell being one of those errors. I do not believe the Bible has to be perfect to be valuable. The Bible teaches us about right and wrong. It also teaches us about love, mercy and forgiveness. But the Bible also seems to contain much that reflects man - not God. I trust the Spirit will help us know the difference. As I try to know and follow Jesus, I am convinced that the God of love revealed in Jesus will not lose any of his children. This,to me, is "good news". It does not mean that selfishness and hate do not have consequences. But it does give hope that, in the end, God's love will have the final word. God will heal his creation, evolution will have reached its goal, and all shall be well."
