1 Shawn Bose = "Here we see the use of the "Alpha and Omega" the first and last letters of the Greek Alphabet.  It was often used in early Christian iconography to represent that Christ was the beginning and end of all thing. It was often used in conjunction with the Chi Rho, the symbol of Christianity revealed to the Emperor Constantine before the Battle of the Milvian Bridge in Rome in which he defeated Maxentius to become Emperor.  He took this sign seen in the sky for why he was ordained by God to become Emperor of the Roman Empire.  This moment is hugely significant because it is Constantine that makes Christianity the official religion of the Empire elevating it to a state religion that would touch millions of lives. view full size"
