1 Sara Di Diego = "Ezili Danto represents hardworking, low-class mothers (most specifically, single mothers).  The two scars from her face originated from the Haitian Revolution, which she helped fight.  During the Revolution, she knew special information so her tongue was cut off.  Thus, when she possesses someone, she is unable to speak and can only make a sound that sounds like "dey-dey-dey" or "thwap".She is known as a warrior love spirit, who will protect her followers.  She can cast away sickness from her followers, as well.  Work Cited:Brown, Karen McCarthy. Mama Lola: Voodoo in Brooklyn. Hamburg: Europäische Verl.-Anst., 2000. Print."
2 Sara Di Diego = "She has several lovers, who have fathered some of her 7 children.  Ogou is the most well known lover, and he is one of Ezili Fréda's husbands. She can participate in marriages, in which "individuals pledge loyalty, service, and even suxual fidelity for one night each week (sleeping with no human on that night and waiting to receive the spirit in their dreams) in return for the spirit's increased care and protection)" (Brown 228).  Most of these individuals are women.  Ezili Danto is a bisexual spirit of vodon.  Work Cited:Brown, Karen McCarthy. Mama Lola: Voodoo in Brooklyn. Hamburg: Europäische Verl.-Anst., 2000. Print."
