1 Shawn Bose = "St. Peter's is the holiest and most famous church in Christendom and is the while not the official seat of the Bishop of Rome (Holy Father/Pope/Pontiff/etc.) which is the Lateran, it is for certain considered such as most both within and without the Catholic faith. It is the final resting place of St. Peter, the first Bishop of Rome. It was designed primarily by Bramante, Michelangelo Buonarroti, and Bernini. The design of the colonnade is reminiscent of outstretched arms holding close the many crowds that gather in the square. I have had the good fortune to visit multiple times and always have found it an incredibly moving and spiritual place. To see the Pieta, to touch the foot of St. Peter's statue, and walk the halls is something that everyone should try and do in their lifetime..."
