“Today we see the [Mormon] church coming out of obscurity, and we see that 90% of what has been written…has been favorable. And that’s a great tribute to Mitt and Ann [Romney] and their family for living such an exemplary life. A life of love and compassion, a good Latter-day Saint life. A life of leadership, reaching out to others, and touching others, and worshiping the lord and putting families and the church first.”

Speaking to a congregation Sunday in New Hampshire, longtime friend J.W. “Bill” Marriott credited Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney and his wife Ann Romney for helping more people understand the faith.

This has been widely quoted and posted in various newspapers. I don’t understand why the media is focusing on it. I’m a Mormon. Is it surprising that having a prominent Mormon in the country is helping people learn about our religion? I don’t think so.
I distrust a press that contradicts personal accounts of Mitt Romney. Personal accounts (and I’ve read many over the past year) all agree at Romney’s kindness, compassion, service, competence, leadership, thriftiness, humility, integrity, and humor. Read both sides, people, because both sides leave stuff out. How can you make an informed opinion with only one viewpoint?

I don’t think it matters what religion Romney is.We aren’t electing a religious leader. What we have learned from numerous sources about his business and public life certainly doesn’t reflect positively on his religious values, whatever they might be.His example wouldn’t give me the impression Mormons are people of conviction or particularly open and honest. But I don’t think he’s representative of all Mormons either.

    Isiah 29:18

“And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity, and out of darkness.” KJV

Mormons believe this scripture refers to the Book of Mormon coming forth in the latter days to enlighten mankind.

LDS who tell others that their prophet restored the Gospel after 1700 years of apostacy ignore scripture that clearly states that our heavenly Father was capable of preserving His Word and His church until His Son’s return.

I Peter 1:22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, [see that ye] love one another with a pure heart fervently: 23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. 24 For all flesh [is] as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: 25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.”
