Hopefully we are getting close to the end times of bachmann.

I hope that when she retires from the House, she will not return to Minnesota. She can have her end times somewhere else. I will have winter, followed by a lovely spring.

If the end was near, why would anybody want to spend the last of it running for elected office?

  • WmarkW

How come On Faith never does articles on the number of Americans who literally believe in End Times, to the extent it affects their voting behavior and hence government policy? Short-term thinking is a problem in all democracies, but is exacerbated in America by people who don’t think unsustainable entitlements or environmental degradation will eventually matter.

  • tombukowski

    Really? Bachmann?

  • leibowde84

Ahhh … So, she’s crazy. That explains a lot.

  • nkri401

    Can’t come soon enough…

  • Madtown

Crackpot alert! This woman was actually elected into office, wow!!

  • Ouch!

  • Joel Hardman

That would be interesting. There are a few terrifying things about Bachmann’s statement:

    1. She actually believes this stuff.

    2. People elected someone who actually believes this stuff.

    3. A lot of people would reelect someone who openly believes this stuff. That’s the most terrifying bit of all.

  • leibowde84

Yep … pretty insulting to non-Christians. This is exactly why religion needs to stay out of the public sphere. It divides to an extent not reasonable in a Democracy.

  • di89

Heck, if it’s that close do I really need to go out and mow the lawn this weekend? How about the laundry? Does it matter if I’m wearing clean underwear for the Apocalypse?

  • csintala79

We can save a lot of money on those strategic planning seminars. Is this going to affect 30 year mortgages?

  • silmd

Why is the Washington Post printing this crackpots comments?

  • Rongoklunk

She’s so ditsy she just HAD to be a believer in the great invisible skyfella. She’s not smart enough to know that gods are mythical by definition. She’s as bright as Sarah Palin.

  • di89

You have to spend Purgatory paying off the student loans, those never go away.

  • cricket44

    Whack job

  • jimwalters1

Has there ever been a period in the last 2000 years when Christians said that we WEREN’T in the end times?

There is a lot of wisdom in living each day such that you wouldn’t be ashamed if it were your last, but Jesus himself warned against trying to predict the end.

  • itsthedax

Well that kills her re-election prospects. Why vote for someone who’d just get raptured before her term is up?

  • leibowde84

Jesus was an apocalyptic preacher who saw the end times coming during the lives of his disciples. At least that’s what most unbiased (non-religious) scholars think for the most part.

  • leibowde84

    They are humorous.

  • leibowde84

I enjoyed reading them … kind of brightened my day, making it clear that she, at least, is out of her mind.

  • BN1951

“we were told this; that these days would be as the days of Noah.”

Well, we’ve had a lot of rain in the DC metro area this week, but even Sligo Creek has not flooded.

  • BN1951

I guess the debt ceiling issue is no longer an issue for Michele.

  • PhillyJimi1

Bat poop crazy this one is… imagine someone like that with the nuke codes!

  • BN1951

yeah…but it might also make non-Christians even happier that they are non-Christians.
