Phil Robertson Placed On Hiatus for Comments

Phil Robertson, of the popular reality show Duck Dynasty, has been placed on hiatus for his harsh comments on homosexuality.

The “Duck Dynasty” family issued a statement Thursday evening (Dec. 20) supporting patriarch Phil Robertson and throwing the future of their successful hit reality show into jeopardy.

The A&E cable channel has put patriarch Phil Robertson, 67, on “indefinite” hiatus from filming after anti-gay remarks he made in the January issue of GQ erupted into debate about free speech.

Now the clan is thanking fans for their support, but isn’t happy about the cable channel’s decision.

“The family has spent much time in prayer since learning of A&E’s decision. We want you to know that first and foremost we are a family rooted in our faith in God and our belief that the Bible is His word. While some of Phil’s unfiltered comments to the reporter were coarse, his beliefs are grounded in the teachings of the Bible,” the statement says.

“Phil is a Godly man who follows what the Bible says are the greatest commandments: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart’ and ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ Phil would never incite or encourage hate. We are disappointed that Phil has been placed on hiatus for expressing his faith, which is his constitutionally protected right.”

In the interview with GQ, Robertson was asked about his definition of sin. “Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there,” Robertson said. “Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men.”

He continued:

“It seems like, to me, a vagina — as a man — would be more desirable than a man’s anus. That’s just me. I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer,” Robertson said in the interview. “I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.”

In their statement, the family added that “We have had a successful working relationship with A&E but, as a family, we cannot imagine the show going forward without our patriarch at the helm. We are in discussions with A&E to see what that means for the future of ‘Duck Dynasty.’ Again, thank you for your continued support of our family.”

Season 5 of the series is set to debut Jan. 15. Filming has finished and Robertson is featured in the 10 episodes. The Season 4 debut, which pulled in 11.8 million viewers in August, set a record for the cable channel.

“Sure my views are disgusting, but they’re in an ancient book!” Not a strong defense in my opinion.

And what of these “grouded in the Bible”, too?

St Paul’s advice in 1 Timothy 2:12, in which the saint says: “I
do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, she must be

1 Samuel 15:3: “This is what the Lord Almighty says … ‘Now go and strike Amalek and devote to destruction all that they have. Do not spare them, but kill both man and
woman, child and infant, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.’ ”

Moses’s call to kill witches, in Exodus 22:18: “Do not allow a
    sorceress to live.”

Psalm 137, which celebrates this terrible revenge: “Happy is he who repays you for what you have done to us / He who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks.”

God’s test of Abraham in Genesis 22, in which Abraham is made to offer his son Isaac as a sacrifice

This endorsement of female subservience in Ephesians 5:22, “Wives, submit to you husbands as to the Lord”

1 Peter 2:18: “Slaves, submit yourselves to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle but also to the cruel.”

Happy Holidays, oh ye scripture cherry picking neochristian hypocrites.

A&E wanted a show about people who aren’t like those you normally see on TV.
And they’re shocked that this non-Hollywood type has non-Hollywood opinions.

Apparently, this “new” site is strictly censored to eliminate any other points of view as my original comment has been deleted – kind of like Fox News for “people of faith”. What’s up with that?

God will always win – whether now or in the end!! Phil, though coarse in his speech, did speak the truth in love! I’m not one of 11+ million DD fans; but his message – from the undefeated Word of God – speaks volumes to a world that doesn’t seem to know “the Truth” anymore! I think it’s wonderful that this praying family stands by their patriarch! God bless you all & may hearts be moved for the Lord Jesus Christ because of your strong stance for Truth! If I watched TV & was a hunting fan – I probably would watch your show!! 🙂
