2 Sara Di Diego = "Lasyrenn has a black side and a white side, just like a big fish with two colors.  When you see her in the water, she is white and has very long blonde hair.  But when you see her while you are dreaming, she is very black with shiny, very long black hair.People believe the reason that Lasyrenn appears as a mermaid is because of the carved figures on the bows of the European slave traders ships.  Thus, Lasyrenn can reconnect people to Africa.Lasyrenn is connected to Mammy Water, who has many shrines throughout West Africa.  Work Cited:Brown, Karen McCarthy. Mama Lola: Voodoo in Brooklyn. 3 Sara Di Diego = "Lasyrenn usually hovers right below the surface of shallow water.  If she seduces someone, they will try to stroke her or lie next to her.  Sometimes they will drown, or Lasyrenn will kidnap them for a short while.  However, the person's hat will always fall into the sea first, before they do.Sometimes Lasyrenn will capture people and pull them to Ginen (a mystical version of Africa) and they will drown.  These are usually suicides or tragic drownings helped by Lasyrenn.  However sometimes, usually if the person is a woman, they will return.  It will usually be three days, three months, or three years.  She usually looks changed: her skin is lighter, her hair is straighter and longer.  But most of all, she has gained sacred knowledge about healing.  She usually forgets everything that happened, and is unable to speak for a while.  These people do not need to perform any task to prove they are a healer.  Work Cited:Brown, Karen McCarthy. Mama Lola: Voodoo in Brooklyn.
