1 Sara Di Diego = "The Essene sect originated as protestors against the Hasmonean Dynasty, who had come into power due to the Maccabean Revolt.  The Essenes were the ones to write the Dead Sea Scrolls.  We have no record that Jesus (Yeshua) was an Essene.  King Herod revered the Essenes, and believed them to be prophets of God.  Thus he helped them and remained an ally his entire life.Work Cited:White, L.
